April 10th 2011 20:06
Health issues are the most important and integral part of one’s life and we should take care of our health as we take care of our money.

To be successful in life, we need to do a lot of various jobs. These often include toiling physical work and stressful mental jobs. Our body needs to support us in whatever we do, whether it is mental or physical. Hence, we should keep the body fit and the mind always fresh.

Therefore, we see that to lead a happy and joyous life, we need to keep ourselves healthy, fit and fine. This blog talks about the basic necessities of a person to be healthy and lead a good life. That person can be anyone – from a beggar to a king; from a cab driver to a company executive.

It is not easy and at times it is not possible too, to keep healthy all the time. Even George Washington, the first American President and commander in chief of the war of independence of America, could not avoid falling sick. Even he needed to be treated from time to time for various health related issues.

Illness caught him unaware very early in his life. When he was in his teenage, Washington suffered from diphtheria, malaria, smallpox and tuberculosis. These diseases those days did not have as affective medicines as we have today. Still, he overcame all these with bravery and we must say, he must have had a healthy body.

If you see the various diseases that he fell prey to in his entire lifespan, you will find that George Washington had had undergone treatment for several of those diseases multiple times. This would tell us that he had a sufficiently healthy body, which could withstand these diseases and their after affects easily. This is one other reason why everyone needs a fit and strong body.

In the later part of his life also, George Washington suffered from other diseases such as quinsy, carbuncle and pneumonia. George Washington, being the commander in chief in America’s struggle for freedom and later the first president of the United States of America, would have lot to go through and his health and mind setup has seen him through most of these diseases.

Keeping yourself disease free and strong and fit when it is needed the most is the most important thing. We cannot say that we will not be exposed to disease causing microbes. However safely we travel or whatever preventive measures we take, we are forced to fell prey of diseases.

This is the main reason that we should keep our body as healthy and fit as possible. A healthy and fit body will have more power to prevent minor diseases and to withstand major ones. Recovering from illness is also an important factor that decides how healthy your body is.

We have seen in this article that George Washington suffered of illness for a long time in his life. This shows that anyone can get ill. However, we can combat the diseases and the illnesses if we have a healthy and fit body. A body with sound health will be less prone to diseases and even if it falls ill, it can recover faster and better.

Look after your health and live a happy life.

Cheers!
