Brush teeth twice a day

October 24th 2011 06:56
We would not know the value of our teeth until we lose them all. This is famous saying in Bengal and is preached over and over again to all the young children to make them take care of their teeth regularly.

Taking care of teeth regularly is very important. We use our teeth to eat our food, the most important work in one’s life. If we do not have teeth, it would be very touch to have various kinds of food that we eat. We need teeth for chewing, tearing, cutting and other similar activities, before we can actually digest our food. Whatever we eat will pass through our teeth before they can be swallowed. This is why it is very important that our teeth work fine and are strong and healthy.

Whenever we go to a doctor, we are prescribed to brush our teeth regularly. Brushing actually removed bacteria from our teeth. Bacteria cause the lion’s share of tooth problems. When we eat and leave without cleaning or brushing our teeth, food particles remain attached to the gum and the contours of the teeth. Bacteria, which are always available in the air or within our digestive system, are quick to act upon these food particles. They use digestive juices to break these food items to their palatable forms and eat on them. During this procedure, the teeth enamel, along with the food particles, get broken down and sometimes, the root of the teeth also get weaker during this process.

To prevent bacteria from building up on our gums and teeth contours it is very important that we clean our teeth and remove any food particles that may accumulate there. This is why brushing teeth twice a day is prescribed by the dental doctors all over the world.

Many doctors still differ on the time of brushing. Should it be morning after you wake up and night before you go to sleep? Or, should it be twice after you have your meal – namely, lunch and dinner? Well, this is something that needs some more research. I am sure there are two different thoughts behind these two policies, but we will find out and publish in one of the future posts here. So, stay tuned!

Cheers!
