weight loss pills beauty girl

I run an Endocrinology clinics for the past six months. I'm one of those doctors who use the a modified message approach but still I get this question a lot.

We DON'T NEED to e skinny to be healthy .What makes a person healthy and fit is adopting a healthy life style and abandon the sedentary life . There are many skinny people who are unfit and unhealthy .

Dieting and exercise should be done by every one in moderation . Many people after all they have done they still remain over weight . The fact is still being big ,healthy and active is better than being skinny lazy and unfit . However ,the minimal weight loss will result in significant health improvement from improved blood glucose to delayed onset of type 2 and reduction in related medications.

Weight loss drugs alter one of the fundamental processes of the human body, by either altering appetite, metabolism, or absorption of calories. Anti-obesity medication not magic pills to loose weight. They need to be used in combination with a healthy diet and regular exercise.Even then, there is little or no benefit from them .

They aren't appropriate for everyone who's overweight. Because of the serious side effects,anti-obesity drugs only be prescribed for obesity where is the benefits of the treatment outweigh its risks.

Weight-loss drugs usually considered in person who have no contraindications and have one of te following :

* body mass index (BMI) is greater than 30
* BMI is greater than 27 and you have a severe medical problem related to obesity, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

In case if a physician prescribed to you a diet pill she/he will put you on a low-calorie diet and regular exercise ,as it is thought that weight-loss drugs produce an average weight loss of 5 to 10 percent of total body weight within a year, a typical goal for any weight-loss effort.

The two drugs approved for weight loss are, orlistat (Xenical) and sibutramine (Meridia), which can lead to weight loss of 5 to 11 pounds (2.3 to 5 kilograms) above and beyond that produced by diet and exercise alone after one year.

Weight-loss drugs not always work but they do work, their effects tend to level off after six months of use. You may need to take weight-loss medication for the rest of your life hence more side effects . When you stop taking these medications, you're likely to regain much or all of the weight you lost.

Common weight-loss drugs

  • Orlistat(Xenical) ,Approved by the FDA . It decreases absorption of dietary fat.The main side effects of Xenical are cramping, diarrhea, flatulence, intestinal discomfort, and leakage of oily stool.
  • Alli is the reduced-strength version of orlistat (Xenical). It works with the same mechanism of Orlistat by decreasing absorption of fat by the intestines. Alli is taken with fat-containing meals, up to three times a day. It's recommended that you eat no more than 15 grams of fat with each meal. Eating higher amounts of fat can cause unwanted effects, such as urgent bowel movements, diarrhea and gas with oily spotting. If you are on Alli contact your doctor if you experience signs and symptoms, such as weakness or fatigue, fever, jaundice, or brown urine, which could indicate liver injury. The FDA still is reviewing the safety of orlistat and Alli because of reports of serious liver injury in people taking them.
  • Sibutramine(Meridia),approved by the FDA .Increases the levels of certain brain chemicals that help reduce appetite.Common side effects of Meridia include headache, dry mouth, constipation ,insomnia ,increased blood pressure and heart rate.Meridia should not be used by people with high blood pressure, a history of heart disease, congestive heart failure, irregular heartbeat, or stroke.
  • Other anti-obesity prescription drugs include: Desoxyn (methamphetamine) ,Bontril (phendimetrazine tartrate), Ionamin and Adipex-P (phentermine). They are "speed"-like drugs that should not be used by people with high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid gland, or glaucoma. They don't cause weight loss beyond several weeks, and they have significant potential for physical dependence or addiction.

Finally, Medications used to decrease weight are potentially unsafe products ,adding more risks on your body and not lighten anything but your wallet. It's important to do a good research if you're thinking about trying weight-loss pills. Read labels and talk with your doctor.check the FDA Web site for alerts about safety concerns and product recalls.
