GAY THERAPY

Today when I logged into my email , then I WAS AMAZED today when i found this headline from msnbc feedback i receive in in box.

Basically it is an article about a U.K. study DONE by "' Michael King of University College London, who published his findings in the journal BMC Pyschiatry, said the number of therapists who said they had tried to help a person change their sexual orientation was surprising." MSNBC said

What a strange concept , you see homosexuality used to be considered to be a mental illness and they used to be treated as a patient and receiving therapy just for being gay. And this is not long time ago, it is up to 1992 when The World Health Organization only removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses.

So King's study showed that some therapists now use more subtle strategies aimed at getting patients to "control" their homosexual feelings, and eventually change their sexual orientation.King and colleagues asked more than 1,400 therapists if they would try to change a patient's sexual orientation if asked to do so.one in six said that they had already tried to help patients control or change their sexual orientation through a range of therapies.

according to the researchers " it showed that 17 percent of therapists and psychiatrists working in Britain had sought to help their patients reduce "gay or lesbian feelings" through therapy'' and These therapies" involved tactics such as pairing homosexual imagery with electric shocks to induce feelings of revulsion,'' King said.

Wow this is a crime ,torture human ,for feeling they are having and in the name of science . Even if those gay in the study agreed for this and they sought that type for the treatment, it is unethical to try to control human thought ,nevertheless treat them in such cruel way .

"There is very little evidence to show that attempting to treat a person's homosexual feelings is effective and in fact it can actually be harmful," King said in a telephone interview.

You know, it wasn't so long ago that people had metal rods shoved through their eye sockets and nasal cavities to cure all sorts of ailments... I mean, seriously, the best cure is always the one that results in permanent and irreversible brain damage.

C'mon b'orblers gorw up! Stick a needle in your eye and see if it cures your insanity!!

Hi katyzzz
it is great seeing you here
about this kind of therapy , similar to ECT concept and is not any more used in many countries as this therapy is considered cruel ,it cause terrifying & shameful experience that can result with persistent memory loss ,especially if that small amount of electric current is delivered to the brain to cause seizure activity and doctors often underplay the potential side-effects ,

Hi alt_ed
thank you for stopping by
you right nothing like brain damage to fix everything

there's a big difference between ECT and a mild shock, the two should not be confused and your source may well have it wrong.

regarding the types of shocks used in Aversion Therapy

Since 1994, the American Psychological Association has declared that aversion therapy is a dangerous practice that does not work. Since 2006, the use of aversion therapy to treat homosexuality has been in violation of the codes of conduct and professional guidelines of the American Psychological Association and American Psychiatric Association. The use of aversion therapy to treat homosexuality is illegal in some countries.

This is unfair and, frankly, screwed up. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual and it's not right for someone to tell another person who they should be attracted to.
