Onions are rich in fructo-oligosaccharides, sulphides, Vitamin A and C, calcium, flavonoids, phosphorus and potassium which contributes to its many health beneficial properties such as:

- Cardiovascular disease
- Colds
- High Blood Pressure
- Influenza
- Insomnia
- Lowers cholesterol
- Pneumonia
- Reduce inflammation
- Sinus conditions
- Tuberculosis
Some common skin ailments such as burns and freckles can also be treated with onion, or more specifically, onion juice.
