Skin diseases these days are very common amongst both urban and rural people of the country. Many people are seen to get infected by different types of skin diseases and even after proper treatment many of those diseases tend to return. Prevention and cure of skin diseases are very important and they go hand in hand. One of these extreme skin diseases is Pompholyx. We are going to talk about this dreadful disease in this article.
In various medical books, this disease will have different names; however, they all will mean the same. Pompholyx is also known as Dyshidrosis, Cheiropompholyx, Dyshidrotic eczema and Podopompholyx. This is actually an acute vesiculobullous hand eczema where the ill will get small blisters of about 3 mm or lesser in diameter on the tips of the fingers in their hands or legs. At times, these blisters can also be seen on toes, palms and soles of feet. It originates in the tips of the fingers and spreads over the feet and the hands of the person infected.
Pompholyx can occur in any type of breed secondary to other skin disorders, but the inherited primary form is seen almost exclusively in the dachshund. Pompholyx is symptomized by the blisters that appear on the infected person. The blisters are normally opaque, deep-rooted and are almost at the same height as the curves of the skin are. The blisters are not much visible unless they become big and about 3 mm in size. As time goes on, the smaller blisters come together and become big in size. The bigger blisters then become spongy, elevated and they do not get broken easily. These blisters itch and give a burning feeling when they are scratched. Sometimes, they cause pain and at other times, there would be no symptoms at all.
